Originally Owned by Austin Moore.

Later operated by Raub Coal Co

It was located east of Mine St, in the Austin Heights section.

Served by the O&W and Erie railroads.

Some of the tailings piles can still be seen.

The mine was located about 300 yards west, at the top of Mine St. near the cemetery entrance.

The mine was a drift type, single opening.

It’s entrance can still be seen, and the foundations of the office, dynamite shed,

and air fan are still there.

It had metal tipple building with a trestle for mine cars to unload coal into a hopper, when full it

would unload down a shoot to fill a railroad 60 ton car (B car ).

More to follow.

1906 A second opening was driven into the Clark Vein connecting the new slope workings with the old. A shaft will be sunk connecting the Marcy and Clark veins for a second opening.
