Recently discovered information on the
Drake family:
An old William A. boundary map was found
that has a cemetery on it. This was located at the end of
Connell St. As the story goes, the cemetery, was a private
cemetery for the Drake family, and the headstones were
removed and discarded when the Lehigh Valley ( LV ) laid
their track from the Austin Branch behind Simpsons Patch,
in Duryea, crossing Connell St., into the William A. yard
heading East. This was later added an extension, west, to
the Kehoe-Berg just across the border in Duryea. The
graves are reported to be still there, never dug up or
removed. And has been confirmed by the local residents
still living in Simpsons Patch. The graves were plowed
over once more, when the Evacuation trailer court was
built after the flood of 1972. The location has been
narrowed down to just off, and to the left, of the old LV
crossing of Connell St. Old trucks and heavy equipment
being cut up for scrap now occupies the site. November,
